Weekend Park Pix

Alright, finally some recent caricatures from the park.
This first one is an English guy who is now a Shaolin Monk. He was a cool guy, but the reason I post this one is because it's my first attempt at using graffiti markers. I used an extra large Hardcore marker for this one but I cheated and drew some of the finer lines with the Markette.

I tried this one of the same Monk but after he left from memory. I used large yellow Hardcore marker and colored it with airbrush.

I drew these last two with the markette, before it ran out on me and went back to using the polychromos.

Universal Orlando Security!

I've had my share of run-ins with security guards. Some of them really think they are something special. One night while leaving the park in Orlando these three rather large female security guards were meandering along side by side. They literally blocked the whole walkway between the people movers and nobody could get by them. I squeezed between them and said "excuse me". The were so incredulous that I asked them to move. It's just an example of their arrogant attitude toward everyone who isn't lucky enough to be one of them. There are a few security guards there that are actually friendly, Marvin and I forgot the other guys' names. One of them was fired. My dislike of "guards" doesn't apply to them.

Live Caricatures 2004 part 1

To get this party started I'm posting some of my old live caricatures from Magic Mountain during March 2004. I'll put some new ones up soon, as soon as I charge my camera. Looking at these now, I can really see where I was deficient. Still, no rejections here. All these customers left happy.

Nacho Libre

These are some small sketches I did while I was in Russia two winters ago. At the time I was obsessed with the movie Nacho Libre. I can't even tell you how many times I've watched it. It still is one of my favorite movies of all time. The first four are graphite caricatures, the last two are small charcoal portraits.

I forget what this guy's name is, but he's hilarious...

Interesting

There are those of us (mostly crazy caricature artists) who like to spend our free time searching the web for cooler, more interesting caricatures, either for entertainment or inspiration. If you do too, then you may be familiar with Joe Bluhm (don't know personally) and Glenn Ferguson (know personally). Joe seems to be the "Obama" of the caricature world, Glenn is the "Susan Lucci". He's been silver and bronze nosey winner but never Gold nosey award from the National Caricature Network. To me, they both have very similar styles so I went over to google trends. This is the graph of who is more popular at the moment. Click here to see. I guess it doesn't mean anything, but it's interesting to see how close they are now.

On the same note, it's interesting to see where caricature artists rank in the cultural wonderland (sarcasm) which is our country. I compared Joe Bluhm to Paris Hilton: Results here. ... No contest. I guess we (caricature artist) should take ourselves too seriously because the world sure doesn't... unless you caricature Mohammed.

More little ones

A little sketch of John McCain. I was going to work on it a little more, but I guess I'll work on Obama first until McCain makes the news again.

Chuck Berry. I'm not a big metal fan, so to me. Chuck is one of the best guitar players. His music is just contagious.

Quick one of Pablo Picasso. I admire Picasso for his versatility.
I can relate with how he changed his way doing things over his long career.
